El Campo, TX is located between Houston & Victoria, on Hwy 59 at Hwy 71. Mikeska’s BBQ has 3 great locations in town, and 1 just outside town on Hwy 59.
The downtown locations are all on Merchant Street, right across from the fire station. They are known by locals as the “New Pit,” “Old Pit,” and the “Lunch Box” (see below for details).
The “New Pit” Location

Features the original menu of barbecue beef, chicken, ribs, sausage and more. Also a large array of homemade side orders like rice salad, pinto beans, hot potatoes, green beans, potato salad, cole slaw and banana pudding. It is located just blocks from downtown El Campo. The restaurant seats approximately 60 and has a casual and friendly atmosphere. There is also a convenient drive through window for take-out orders. The walls are decorated with mounted wildlife displays which the Mikeska family members have collected over the years.
The “Lunchbox”

The “Lunch Box” was the original location of Mikeska’s Meat Market. Later it was renovated into a salad/sandwich and daily buffet diner. The Lunch Box serves a daily all-you-can eat buffet Mondays through Fridays. The Lunch Box seats approximately 50 customers. The building is decorated with mounted animals, fish and birds and some antiques above a large brick fireplace in the corner of the cozy restaurant.
The “Freeway”

The “Freeway Location” is one of the Mikeska’s newest ventures. It is a large and spacious restaurant located right off Highway 59. The restaurant seats approximately 200 customers and the banquet room will seat another 200. The rustic wooden walls are decorated with mounted animals, accented with several window boxes full of mounted wildlife featuring many South Texas animals especially white tail deer, fish and birds.
An old wooden buckboard wagon is a focal point along side a large wood burning brick fireplace. A favorite conversation piece is a mounted 11.5 foot alligator. The banquet room is an elegant dinning room and is available for private parties, receptions and meetings. The daily menu consists of barbecue brisket, sausage, pork, ham, ribs, chicken and more. Also, several fresh homemade sides orders including Mikeska’s favorite banana pudding. We also serve an all-you-can eat buffet four days a week.
